Good news: booking cheap flights with Chase points is easier than you might think. The quickest, easiest way is to use your Chase points to book flights directly within the Chase Travel portal. You can get to the Chase Travel portal within your Chase credit card account, through the Chase website or mobile app.
It works just like booking flights through Priceline, Expedia, or other travel booking sites, but you can use Chase points as well as money. For example, when you select a flight that’s listed on the Chase Travel portal, you’ll see a dollar value for the cost of the airfare (like $500) and right next to that dollar amount, you’ll see a points value (how many Chase Ultimate Rewards points you’d need to redeem to get that flight).
If you have the Chase Sapphire Preferredยฎ Card, your Chase points are worth 25% more when used to book travel. So a $500 airfare would look like this:
Flight total: $500 or 40,000 points
But if you have the Chase Sapphire Reserveยฎ, your Chase points are worth 50% more when booking travel through Chase. So your $500 airfare would look like this:
Flight total: $500 or 33,333 points
Some other fees and taxes will apply; you will need some cash to pay for those costs.
